In 1987, owner Bob Galbraith started New Port Engineering as a vendor for chassis components. While selling other manufacturers’ parts, he decided to try his hand in fabrication of various custom parts for Model A’s. His first venture included headlight bars and slim line bumpers for 1928-29 Model A’s. Seeing a need in the specialty automotive community for an alternative to the old vacuum wipers, he designed a unit for the 1939 Chevrolet car. From there he developed other Chevy cars, followed by trucks. Over the next 19 years he and the staff at New Port Engineering have designed wiper applications for many other cars & trucks.

Bob, being a street rodder himself the past 40 years, has focused on providing a quality product for his fellow car enthusiasts. Spending most summers on the road, going to car shows as family vacations, many miles have been logged on his own antique cars. Bob has attended every Street Rod National since the beginning of time.

Since 1988, New Port Engineering has been making replacement kits for wipers, taking those old vacuum motors and replacing them with 12-volt electric. Instead of relying on a universal kit, our assemblies are designed to fit the specific year and model for your car or truck. In being so specific we try to make installation as easy as possible for you, avoiding any extra modifications on your part. Our applications are designed to mount in the stock location and use the existing linkage and transmissions or OEM cables.

Our newest Clean Wipe Systems, fitting 1939-46 Chevrolet trucks, 1940-47 Ford trucks and the 1928-29 Model A’s are complete and ready for you to check them out! Linkage arms, wiper transmissions and the wiper arms and blades are included as well as a drill jig to make a hole for the passenger side or enlarge an existing hole.

The Clean Wipe Wiper Drive is a true bolt-in replacement for your original equipment vacuum or electric windshield wiper motor. Each model of the Clean Wipe Wiper Drive is designed for the specific year and model of vehicle.

Wiper drives attach to the stock mounting brackets.

Designed for attachment to O.E.M. wiper transmission or cable drums.

Each kit comes complete with nylon bushings to replace the rubber grommets in the wiper transmission linkage arms. (when required)
